Before playing with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra on Friday, February 15th, famed trombonist Jiggs Whigham paid a visit to Rainey Institute and showed the kids what music is all about. Using one of the children’s green pBones, Jiggs showed the kids how to play the blues, discussed the importance of practice, and even played Happy Birthday for one of the children!
If you’ve never seen a green trombone, don’t be alarmed – many of us haven’t. The pBone was an original creation by Jiggs Whigham as an alternative to an actual trombone. The creation is durable, lightweight, and comes in several different colors – a perfect beginners instrument for students studying trombone or trumpet.
Rainey Institute is so grateful for a professional of Jiggs’ caliber to visit and show off his talents. We hope to see him again in the future!
