The Teaching Artist Assistant will be responsible for assisting the teaching artist in providing daily instruction in group settings to artists. The teaching artist assistant will work closely with the teaching artist to plan and facilitate daily lessons that support and advance the short- and long-term goals of the class and program, and that help to encourage and inspire students on the path of visual and performing arts and personal growth.


  • Assist in the development of lesson plans by providing ideas that support our artists learning
  • Assist in the preparation for activities as directed by the teaching artist
  • Assist in setting and maintaining high standards for students’ behavior by enforcing the Rainey norms and student conduct policy.
  • Assist in monitoring snack time and assisting with homework


  • Experience in working in the visual or performing arts
  • Experience working with children from diverse ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • An interest in growing as a professional in dance



Mayfair Elementary Summer Camp

Session Dates: June 6th – July 1st, Monday through Friday

Location: 13916 Mayfair Ave, East Cleveland, OH 44112

Class Hours: Report Time: 12:30pm | Class Instruction: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Class Groups: Grades 3-8


Rainey Institute Summer Camp

Session Dates: July 5th – August 5th, Monday through Thursday

Location: 1705 E. 55th Street, Cleveland, OH 44103

Class Hours: Flexible, morning and afternoon class options are available.

Rainey’s Teaching Artists are hired as part-time, temporary employees and are paid $12-17 per hour for the term of the position (including pre-program meetings and orientation).
