2022-2023 Community Arts programming

Rainey Institute’s Community Arts Program will begin Saturday, December 3rd with new and exciting visual and performing arts opportunities for PreK-8th graders! The Program will feature classes, arts clubs, and collaborative community projects in Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, and Music, along with creative experiences in STEM and digital arts, facilitated by excellent teaching artists and creative partners from our community.

Only $25 due to start.

Tuition billed at a later date.

 

Tuition is as follows:

  • Rainey STARS – $64 (8 week session)
  • Rainey EXPLORERS – $120 (15 week session)
  • Rainey CLUBS – $120 (15 week session)
  • Rainey CONNECTIONS – $120 (15 week session) *Purchased individually
  • Rainey CLUBS + CONNECTIONS Bundle: $180 *4 per CONNECTION session discount, if purchased together with CLUBS Registration. Discount applied at billing. Registration required for both classes

Rainey stars

Pre-K

Rainey Stars welcomes preschoolers to explore and shine here at Rainey, with exciting bi-weekly classes in visual arts and storytelling through dance!  Classes are age and developmentally appropriate for children aged 4-5, and parents/guardians are also welcomed and encouraged to participate!

Rainey STARS begins December 3, 2022, and classes are offered every-other Saturday through May 6, 2023 (class schedule will be provided upon registration).  (11-week Session: November 19, 2022 – May 6, 2023)

Rainey Explorers

K-2nd Grade

Rainey Explorers starts December 3, 2022.  All classes 10:00 – 11:35 am

Rainey Explorers immerses K-2nd grade students in an exciting and exploratory learning experience in the arts, with weekly classes in dance, drama, music, and visual arts. Each Saturday, these budding young artists engage in rotating performing and visual arts classes, led by Rainey’s professional teaching faculty. This program is both an age and developmentally-appropriate learning experience, as well as an exciting opportunity for creative fun, friendship-building, and an introduction to the Rainey family.

 

Rainey Clubs

3rd-8th Grade

Rainey Clubs start December 3, 2022.  All classes 11:35 am – 1:05 pm

Dance Club

Rainey Dance Club provides young dancers an exciting, team-based opportunity to explore various styles of dance, work together on routines that expand their movement vocabulary, and have fun staying active on the weekends. Club sessions rotate between Concert Dance, Street Dance, or Cultural Dance, and incorporate Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, and African styles!

Visual Arts Club

Rainey Visual Arts Club provides young artists a hands-on opportunity for creative experimentation in a variety of art forms and media. Club sessions are designed to meet each artist at their individual skill level and help them develop skills in painting, sewing, paper sculpture-building, visual composition, and puppetry character design as they explore materials and techniques!

Drama Club

Rainey Drama Club provides young actors an ensemble-based experience, exploring various dimensions of dramatic theater. Club sessions engage and help each actor develop performance skills, including character development, storytelling, and public speaking, as well as introduction to the behind-the-scenes work of stage production, writing, producing and directing.

Beginning January 14, 2023 for 3rd-12th Grade, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Focusing on American Popular Music (Jazz, Blues, Funk, Hip Hop, R&B, etc.), RYSE focuses on playing by ear & improvisation as well as traditional modes (music reading, etc.); combining intensive and relevant music education, youth-centered civic engagement, and community performance opportunities.  The goal is to develop high level, polished musicians as well as civically engaged community members.

Rainey Connections starts January 14th, 2023.  All classes 1:10pm – 2:10pm

New, unique, and exciting programs, offered by Rainey’s community partners and artists, providing hands-on learning experiences in areas such as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), Digital Music Production, Creative Writing, Spoken Word, and more!

Video Game Design with STEM Forged

In Video Game Design, students will be introduced to and learn skills of 3D modeling, animation, and programming in order to create their very own video games! Students will also have the opportunity to showcase their games and playtest those designed by their peers. The goal of the program is to take students’ excitement for video games and turn it into a passion for STEM!

Silk Screening & Print Design with Future Ink Graphics

Silk Screening & Print Design will combine two exciting and hands-on mini workshops:

1. Your Voice; Your Vision: Screen Printing for Poster Design:
In this class, students will work with a FIG instructor to learn the basics of silkscreen printing and poster design. Students will silkscreen a variety of designs as they learn screen printing techniques and discuss key elements of design craft.

2. Warhol Your World!:
In this class students will learn about Andy Warhol’s iconic silkscreens, then get to create their own Warhol-esk images. Using a variety of materials, students will collage and silkscreen their own works each week based on a Warhol print. Students will walk away knowing who Warhol was, how silkscreen works, and with a few unique masterpieces of their own.

HBCU Showstyle Drumline & Majorette Dance with Buck Out Cleveland & Le’Quan Gray

In HBCU Showstyle Drumline & Dance, participants will work with expert teachers and alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities to learn and experience the excitement of marching band performance! Students most interested in drumming will focus on developing skills to play drumline cadences and rhythm patterns, while those most interested in dance will perfect dynamic majorette style dance routines. Students will then join together in the program’s finale showcase, for a show-stopping performance!
