Our Visual Arts Programs

Exploring colors, textures, and materials brings joy and inspiration to individuals of all ages, especially children. The feeling a child gets when they create their first work of art is priceless. Rainey Institute’s Teaching Artists provide a wide range of fun and engaging art projects across a variety of artistic mediums. Our offerings include the following programs:

 After School – Live OnLine ART

Students Age 6-12

Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 – 5:00 PM Via ZOOM

February 2, 2021 – April 29, 2021

This class is a twofer.  Zoom with us online every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 – 5:00 pm .  Experience 2D art (Painting with watercolor, markers, and colored pencils) and 3D art (paper sculpture and polymer clay) on Tuesday and then switch it up on Thursday to learn self-expression through imagination, storying telling, and other awesome art activities.  This class begins February 2, 2021 and ends on Thursday, April 29, 2021.  There is a one time registration fee of $20 and supply fee of $25 but TUITION IS FREE!

After School – Intergalactic Art

Students Age 6-12

Every Friday 4:00 – 6:00 PM

February 5, 2021 – April 30, 2021

Shoot for the stars. Join us every Friday at Rainey Institute from 4:00 pm – 6:00 p.m. Budding artists will experience a fusion of visual art (painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography) and new media art (digital, video, sound art). The final bang…an exhibition showcasing every artist’s masterpieces.  This begins Friday, February 5, 2021 and ends with an exhibit on April 30, 2021.  There is a one time registration fee of $20 but TUITION IS FREE!

Saturday Arts In Me

Experimental Print Laboratory
Paper + Ink + Pressure

Age 6 +

 Saturday 9:30 – 11:00 am

October 5, 2020 – May 1, 2021

This class provides the magical art experience of printmaking for any child 6 years old and up! Step by step, students will learn the process of papermaking and the assorted printmaking methods, such as monotype, relief, contact , collagraph printing, etc. The possibility of experimentation and mixed media will be explored. Students will develop skills in layering, carving, composition and design as they explore materials and techniques. They will also sharpen their drawing skills to create eye-catching artworks. If you love designing and printing your cards, posters, T-shirts, tote bags, and more…, THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU! There is a one time registration fee of $10 and each class $10.00. 

Saturday Arts In Me

Ceramics Studio

Ages 6 +

Saturdays from 11:00 – 12:30 PM

October 5, 2020 – May 1, 2021

This course is for anyone interested in exploring ceramics or advancing to the next level in ceramics.  Students will be taken to a new level and will  create using the pinch pot, coil building and slab building techniques and learn how to use a variety of tools.  Each student will work on a project, whether it is making cups and dinnerware or creating a stand alone figure, ceramics is the place to be.  Exhibitions showcasing each student’s ceramic art will be held twice during the class year. There is a one time registration fee of $10 and $10 per class.
